PhD in philosophy. Activities: philosophy consultant, philosophy for children, didactics of philosophy, philosophical practice. Bibliography International summer seminar on "Philosophical Practices" in France July 12th - 18th 2010 Call for contributions
As an indication, one can examine the program of the past winter seminar, indicated below. What is a workshop ? A
philosophical workshop is a practice where one engages himself to
produce and understand ideas, deepening them through argumentation,
analysis and interpretation, problematizing them through questions and
objections, clarifying them through the identification and utilization
of concepts. It is not an exchange of opinions, a lecture or a
verification of acquired knowledge, but the common elaboration of a
thinking process, by examining its flaws and limitations, working it
through in order to develop it in a conscious and reflected manner. --------------- Free philosophical consultations service through Skype

France, February 6th - 7th 2010
Program
Oscar BRENIFIER (France) Philosophy Practitioner – Institut de Pratiques Philosophiques Workshop : Thinking the unthinkable In the common language, and very often in the mind of those who want to practice philosophizing, to think has to do with articulating one’s beliefs and defending them. Even though this aspect of the work is undeniably useful since it contributes to the clarification of one’s position, it quickly reaches it limits unless one accepts to initiate the work of negativity. Critique, questioning, problematizing, one has to recognize the drawbacks, the flaws and even the absurdity of a given posture in order to truly understand it. Then we will be conscious of our own stand and produce new concepts. Nelson HOEDEKIE (Belgium) Philosophy Practitioner Workshop: Face (in) the Mirror – my eyes don’t see my face Change thinking by confronting the ideas about one’s self with reality. The workshop lets the participant experience, in an active, analogous and accessible way (fun, creative, analogous, participant-directed, pre-verbal, multimedia…) what philosophizing is. Hein HOEK - Philosophy consultant (Belgium) Workshop : Structure and chaos Based on a Socratic Dialogue, this workshop covers various elements such as constellations, pantomime, paintings or drawings, all depicting notions of chaos and structure. A “non-verbal expression of an idea » is the starting point and the common experience of a following Socratic Dialogue. The workshop is supposed to be fun, confusing and reflective at the same time. Heykel HOUAS – PhD in Mathematics (France) Workshop: Naming and processing the oppositions through the antinomies Resistances from the one who is questioned in a Socratic dialog are important moments in the questioning. They cause several difficulties for the questioner, since it impedes the processing of the problem, inducing as well certain blindness to the stakes of these oppositions. The aim of this workshop is to identify the nature of these oppositions through antinomies, proposing how to deal with these oppositions through the tools thus described. Jérôme LECOQ - Product Manager (France) – Masters in Philosophy - Apprentice Philosophy Practitioner Workshop: Philosophical questioning Practicing the Brenifier method : thinking together, starting with a non-specifically philosophical question. How to ask a question, clarify its meaning for everyone, check its premises and its limits. One should first commit himself to an answer and clarify one's arguments, then discover one's prejudices and develop further his hypothesis. Tomas MAGALHAES CARNEIRO – Philosophy Practitioner (Portugal) Workshop : Giving birth to concepts How to give birth to different concepts and extract rich and diversified philosophical questions during philosophical workshops. Isabelle MILLON – Philosophy Practitioner (Philosophy workshop facilitator for adults and children) / Trainer for teachers and social workers (France) Workshop: Moral dilemma After the description of a moral dilemma, the participants will have to take a decision and produce criteria (arguments, concepts) in order to justify their judgment. Then, they would have to critique somebody by asking questions or giving objections, which will be answered. Finally, a global analysis of the work will be done. Detlef STAUDE – Coordinator of the Swiss group of philosophical practitioners (Switzerland) Workshop : Philosophizing with Groups – Concepts and Methods The workshop will show some important conditions and methods that ensure that philosophizing in a group can take place successfully. It shows as well why philosophizing in groups is for both, the participants and the leading philosopher, one of the most satisfying ways of Philosophical Practice. ---------------
